Glad you had a bit of success! Your fabric does not look smooth enough.......What I do with my Bailey is: everytime I "roll up" to start in another section, I roll is not to firmly....like bouncing a quarter on it....LOL then I smooth with hand the top and bottom at the same time. Try that.....What type of thread are you using and weight of it.

Hooray for U! Glad 2 know it is working for you. I know well how you feel. One other note of advice, make sure your bobbin is placed in a clockwise direction.

I am having fun! It's still jamming at times after I have been working for a few minutes. Any ideas? Someone (sorry I forgot who it was after I clicked on the reply button) asked what kind of thread I am using it's just the Coats & Clark type I don't know what weight that is. I have some embroidery thread I think that's 40 wt. I seem to be getting a lot of lint with the thread that I have on there right now. I also got it as tight as I could on the bars. I really appreciate everyone's tips and suggestions.

That was me about the thread. I know C&C has a lot of lint to it and that's the one I stay away from, although others like it...
I use a polyester cotton from JoAnn's....It's on a cone and is cheap.

Chuck at Bailey told me one of the problems is that we quilters don't set the machine fast enough so I have my speed set almost center but still move the machine slow it will just be the stitch speed. Have fun you wild and crazy quilter!

I like Signature, YLI and King Tut all in 100% cotton. It just depends on what you and your machine like. I use a lot of variegated threads too, they blend well on any of the colors of the blocks. I usually use the same in top and bottom, but others have use different types in top and bottom and different weights of thread too.

Also, you stated that you had your fabric as tight as you could get it on the poles. You don't want your sandwich to be real tight, you do need some give, back it off at least one notch if not two on the pole. That may be why your needles are breaking. Also if you start having problems with thread fraying, try a topstitch needle. The groove and eye are bigger and put less drag on your thread while it goes through the sandwich. I have gotten so I only use topstitch needles in all of my sewing/quilting/embroidery because of this.
