The middle of the quilt is log cabins set on point - so it is NOT directional.

I would have the feet pointing out, so they it's symmetrical. To me, pointing down would look like a mistake, since they point outward the rest of the way around, if I'm understanding you right. Since you're not keeping it, you don't know how it might be used. Just my two cents.

Hmm... I don't think there's a should at all. Although I'd tend to have all the feet point out as well. So it'll look like doggies running in a circle around the quilt.
Or if you decide to define a top and bottom (by having the "top dogs" with feet pointing inwards), perhaps considere putting one doggie in a corner of the centre somewhere, to help define the direction? Just saying to confuse you further, erm I mean... so you know you can't go wrong whichever way you choose! :D |
If the main part of the quilt is not directional, I would put the feet pointing out. That way it doesn't matter which is the top or the bottom of the quilt.
