Applique something over the slice.

Fusible on the back if possible and clear thread on the top to mend --------------friend did this and it didn't show.

I snipped the edge while adding the binding (I was trying to square up the top with my rotary cutter) and my repair was to applique with tiny hand stitching some of the same backing fabric over, using very tiny hidden stitches. Match the pattern as best you can.

This is what I have done in the past. Good luck, so sorry you had the oops.

Great advice! It would be a perfect opportunity for me to try my first applique!

I hate when I do that!

It happened to me with a quilt that was a gift. It was a pale pink with tone on tone flowers. I just sew a triangle where the cut was. After ironing and quilting i couldn't see it anymore.

I would slip a piece of matching fabric behind and use tiny stitches to mend as you said, then use a little fray check.

Bo Nash works wonderfully.
I have used it to patch my husbands jeans even. Hunting clothes.
Google should help you find it.
