As I lay in bed, pondering your problem.....quilters do that, don't they? I thought if the pencil lines do not come out, she could do red work over the lines. It would match in with the colours and if she did a few feathers scattered around, it would look like she planned it.

I don't think Mum would go for that one as she likes her stitching to blend into the existing colour.. She is not a big fan of redwork... But if it was me, I would go yeah, there's a good idea!!!!! Thanks for the idea though!!!

And yes, we quilters are like that!!! My head hurts sometimes from all the quilting thinking lol

Cheers!

If you ironed after drawing with the pencil, bad news your stuck with the markings, yes even with the fons/porter pencils.

i had to soak yrs old pencil marks with Oxi Clean. rubbed also. it worked.

i've used spray and wash to remove marks with great success but i too worry that you've ironed it and heat set in the pencil now.

as a rule i won't even put the item in the dryer if the marks haven't disappeared yet

Actually, Mum noticed the markings are coming out even though it was ironed. I think she might try the Dish detergent method as she is a bit weary about using chemicals on her quilt. She and I thank you all for all the great suggestions, advice and concern.

Mum says she will just take her time and work away little by little with the quilt til she gets the markings out. She is also going to use a toothbrush to help with the removal as it will give a good lather when brushing the markings out.
