I would make her an I spy quilt with Alaskan and Aussie animals and events/places on it. I would do the I spy with the lines so it is colorful and not just pictures.

This way you can do the sashing (lines) in a pink/purple and have both areas represented.

Aussie animals You can always do a Girlie when she is older

i'd find out what her favorite color is & go from there...

I would go with a "girlie/Aussie theme...she needs something so she can connect with you. Or maybe two quilts one for a doll bed and her.

I totally agree with that. You can do a modified girly-Aussie or Aussie-girly but it would be sooooo special to get that from her gran.

I agree 3 year olds are intelligent, and my girls loved stories from gran.

If you applique maybe you could do one with the kind of Aussie flowers that grow in your area..crafty_linda_b

Pink and girly

I would go Aussie if it were me. It will give her even more reason to think of her Aussie Nan every time she looks at or snuggles under her quilt.

Why not do a combination of all 3. Add a bit of Alaska and a bit of Aussie in a girly quilt. It's the best of 3 worlds!

Its called the Tasmanian Crib Quilt. It was originally in purples but has faded to brown. Its on my list of ten Wannados. My friend online sent me the picture. I'm trying to find fabric to make a replica reasonably simliar to the original.

OR Aboriginal fabrics on the front, native Alaskan on the back. Would love to see what you come up with.

You have all given me such good ideas, and when it is done I will definetly post a photo. I will google the Tasmanian Crib Quilt and see what that is.
