I love the pictures & the ideas. I just got back in town last night & hubby just left to look at a job so I am heading back up stairs to work on mine:-)

I did the babys full name down one side and then her d.o.b, time born & weight on the other side. I will upload more pictures later. I am ready to sew the binding now:-)

If someone doesn't feel confident to freehand the writing, you can also write whatever the wording on golden threads paper or tissue paper and pin that to the quilt as a guide. The paper comes off easy after the design is quilted.

I agree with Madquilter. I draw my "penmanship" lines on the golden threads paper. Write what I want in cursive on that paper also. Pin to area where you want in the quilt (don't forget to remove basting pins under the paper) and quilt away.
I usually stipple baby quilts and put "secret" messages in the borders. Fun for the receiver to look for them. |
I used a Friction pen and a ruler to draw my lines. Before I got to the end of it I would turn my iron on to let it get hot. After quilting all my words I just unplugged the iron and ironed right over my work and all my writing was gone! I love my new pen!

Looks great, Christina!
