I Am visually impaired, I recently bought painters tape in diferrent widths. I tried using it to mark lines on my last quilt. It worked wonderfully!!!!! My son. Found some tape at a store called big lots for only a few dollars.
Your a great friend to do this for your friend!

My friend, Ila, who is 90, also has MD, and gets shots in her eyes every two weeks. She can't see to read any more, but is still quilting by hand. It's not perfect, but she's still doing what she loves, and is the life of the party at our weekly meetings and quilt retreats. Right now she is working on the OMG quilt... Talk about not giving up!!!!

I have seen a video of a blind quilter sewing on a machine and turning out quilts. She had a friend cut the fabric. Let me see if I can find the video. Please give a her a big hug from me. I have thought about this as my grand mother went blind in her later years. She continued to knit and one of her daughters would on a regular basis fix the stitches that had dropped.

There are tools available specifically to the visually impaired, including needles with large eyes. Do you have an agency that deals with visual impairement in your area? I'd check there.

How about doing binding? I think she could learn to do that by feel...?
