I have been in a slum. I have also been working on organizing my room and don't feel like I am getting anywhere. So I have avoided the sewing room altogether. I am seriously behind finishing one quilt, I am about 8 months behind on a BOM (mental block there), I have not touched my civil war quilt in 8 months, and a QOV that I started a year ago. My sewing room is upstairs and I keep telling myself, I will go up later, I know once I get up there I will stay and do something, it's just getting up the steps.

i keep a few simple blocks cut out & ready to go...that way when i have a day, or month like that i don't have to think about what to work on,..just grab it out of the drawer.. i keep something to piece & something to applique... so i also have a choice.

I give myself a couple alternate things to do that ain"t so inviting --sew or clean the dog poo out of the yard/or clean the cat box SEWING always wins :-P :-P :-P

I get that way every spring, when it is time to start planting flowers and garden. To get myself back in the "mode", I look at all the beautiful quilts others have done and that helps alot.

I just went through a similar experience and a friend came over and handed me pieces to sew and pressed the seams for me when I was finished. It got me going. I am still a newbie working on my first quilt. I was doing a lot of embroidery before Christmas and I think I was afraid to begin the quilt. It is going well now.

Reward yourself for your accomplishments! It works for me. I tell myself I can have whatever treat I want at the moment once I finish ________ :)
