When the fabric is depleted in the warehouse, no more fabric will be sold at Walmart except the pre cut craft fabric. Right now the WalMarts that do still have the fabric dept. are getting the warehouse supply, lot of it too. I have talked to several WalMart buyers and the fabric dept is and will be phased out.

I don't understand why they got rid of layaway. It would seem that they would get more business by having that with the economy the way it is.

Our Walmart will be closing their fabric dept. when they "remodel" in Feb. The quality of their fabric has really deteriorated during the past six months...

Your right Rexie, Walmart has expanded there electronics and party good depts, which equals more money per square foot. Well, I guess that's business. Three of our Walmart withing a 45 mile radius has depleted there fabric depts, although I noticed one of them is now carrying fat quarters. I have the option of three Joann's, BUT, all about 35 to 45 miles away. So I have ordered quite a bit fro " quilt fabric closeouts" and been very satisfied. A lot of good deals out there on the Web.

Good for you. If more people would buy American made maybe we wouldn't be in such bad shape. I love your state. I would move down there in a minute, Gatlinburg area.

They have stopped carrying Lee Riders jeans. I guess they think everybody is short. Can't find a pair of talls or long length anymore. Looked in the men's & about the same. I found a pair of jeans that were 50 waist & 30 lgth. Those things were bigger around than they were long. We went tonight to pickup dogfood, bread & some chips. Was getting some frozen vegetables & got to looking, there isn't to many brands to choose from. Really starting to get POed with them. I get coupons for Newman's Own Pizza all the time but they never carry them. My brother in law works for Frito & he told me that Walmart is only going to carry what moves the fastest. They are really cutting back on products. We have a Kroger store, a Brookshires (chain out of Tyler, TX) & Wally World. We also have Dollar General. You could live out of Dollar General but they don't have fresh produce. Also Family Dollar. Someday maybe they will realize that bottom line isn't what matters.

Our nearest Wally World is about 5 miles from me. They have downsized their fabric department in the last year but still have a nice selection. I can guarantee them that I buy fabric everytime I'm in there. At least once a week.
