"I have my good Ginghers for cutting fabric, two rotary cutters big & small, my leather shears for cutting fake fur & the nippers I use most for sewing just to clip threads. Used to have a good pair of pinking shears, but DH got them when I was on the phone one day & decided they should be in "his" shop...never to be seen again! "I didn't take them"..knew I should have tripped him before he got out the door with them! LOL"
(forgot to hit quote reply)

This reminds me of when my husband decided to use a pair of my ginghers to cut CARPET!!! I was so mad!!! He did buy me a new pair. That was many years ago...he never did it again. He has been gone 6 years now...I would give anything for him to wreck another pair of scissors again.

salmonsweet 02-17-2011 04:34 AM

One.

You are all scary!! (Saying this just because I've only just managed to get my fabric and book buying under control and I don't want the scissor-buying door to fly open!!)

pieces 02-17-2011 05:07 AM

I seldom use scissors. Using my rotory cutter for cutting all fabrics. I have a pair of fiskars I cut the stabilizer from my machine embroidery. An old pair I use to trim threads when I machine embroider. I have a pair of nippers to trim threads as I piece.

tntgranny 02-17-2011 05:20 AM

Too many - but most have been used by other family members for things other than fabric. Tell them everytime they use it to clip coupons, open boxes, whatever - means I have to get a new pair cuz they wrecked my good ones.

reginalovesfabric 02-17-2011 05:32 AM

over 35 and I can never find a pair when I need them

supergma 02-17-2011 05:33 AM

Now, let me see... 1-2-3-4-5-6 Hey, who has my other scissors?

foxxigrani 02-17-2011 05:34 AM

I have so many pair of scissors its shameful. I also have so many of those over the neck key chain holders that I had to find a small drawer just for them. My scissors aren't expensive tho, and they aren't bigger ones. All small, they get dull fast and in the garbage they go. Shame on me.

Tinabodina 02-17-2011 05:36 AM

I don't now how many I have. To count all of them, it would seem like a waste of time; time I could have been quilting.

Jo Mama 02-17-2011 05:47 AM

Probaby have over 20 pairs = but I have 3 good fabric and 2 pinking shears for sewing. Plus 7 rotary cutters. My fav rotary cutter is Martelli's.

Psychomomquilter 02-17-2011 05:52 AM

I think I have about 5, would this include crochet scissors? well include 2 to that.....

love4westies 02-17-2011 05:55 AM

If you are odd, then I am odder...every time Joann's has a 40% coupon or more, I use it to buy gingher scissors!!! Who is counting anyway???

deema 02-17-2011 05:57 AM

In my house? 8-10. For sewing, three. One big pair for fabric, small thread snips and another big pair for non fabric sewing related things - mostly templates.

Rettie V. Grama 02-17-2011 06:01 AM

Never counted them. I have a shoe box full.

scaroca 02-17-2011 06:06 AM

more than a dozen. but not saying how many more. hehe

steelecg 02-17-2011 06:09 AM

I have a pair of Singer scissors and several pair of embroidery scissors

NDQuilts 02-17-2011 06:18 AM

I seems to collect thread snips more than shears, although I do have 3 pair for dressmaking. I like a pair of snips tucked into my travel tool bags so I can work on the go. I do keep multiple travel bags with hand piecing appliqué blocks. What I really need to acquire are more rotary cutters. I can only find one.

GammaLou 02-17-2011 06:33 AM

Oh, I have about a kazilllion or so...I can't pass up a pair at an estate sale and I have purchased some and have been given sewing supplies, etc. Can't have too many especially when you are looking for one and all of a sudden they are in hiding

Karen's Kreations 02-17-2011 06:35 AM

Please tell me we don't have to start keeping track of our scissors as well as our stash! It's best that I don't know how many I have - as well as how many other sewing gadgets.

Scakes 02-17-2011 06:45 AM

I have LOTS of scissors - different brands and different sizes. Have no idea how many and I'm not sure I want to know. I love the ginghers the best though.

mhansen6 02-17-2011 06:54 AM

Not that many. Now ask me about rotary cutters. That is a different story.

pollym44 02-17-2011 06:56 AM

Ain't telling. But I wish I could find the older model Fiskars, they seem better than the newer ones.

franc36 02-17-2011 07:00 AM

I counted 26 pairs of scissors in my sewing room. Guess you can tell, I love scissors! I have most of them in a scissors holder that hangs by my sewing machine so that I can easily reach the pair I need. I keep one pair on my ironing board and 2 pairs near my cutting table for times I am not using a rotary cutter. Yes, I do use all of them from time to time.

davidwent 02-17-2011 07:11 AM

3 :( and 1 pair smell of onions

catrancher 02-17-2011 07:54 AM

Ten. Pinking, three pairs of applique scissors, one small pair and another pair that folds up, two large, one craft, and an old large that I use on paper. (I had to keep raIsing the number as Ii listed them!)

bizzyquilter 02-17-2011 08:12 AM

How many pairs of scissors do I have? Don't know I lost count. That's like asking me how many rotary cutters do I have.

debbieoh 02-17-2011 08:59 AM

I can honestly say I have NO idea how many pairs I own or even where they all are LOL!! They seem to disappear visit with the missing socks. Than right out of nowhere I will have boxes and boxes.

FroggyinTexas 02-17-2011 09:02 AM

Four Ginghers of various sizes. A least five embroidery scissors, two still inthe package, and just bought scissors at Ikea for every room in the house including the bathrooms. And I still can't find anything except my sewing scissors.

patdesign 02-17-2011 09:04 AM

Lots of good scissors, not counting utility scissors scattered around the house for hubby to use. Among mine 3 pr gingher shears 1 7 and 2 8 inchers, several embroidery storks, several pair of fiskars and a pair of vintage Singer pinkers, my most loved scissor is a 5 inch pair of vintage ginghers with BLUNT tips, they are absolutely the best for trimming as the blunt tips do not catch when I am trimming close to the seams. They are absolutely best for trimning embroidery and heirloom sewing projects. Do we want to count rotary cutters? Way too many! I keep my scissors in good repair and have them sharpened about once a year at JOanns.:)

patski 02-17-2011 09:25 AM

I only count the ones I can find at any given moment!! I have many but they all came with little feet

lynnie 02-17-2011 09:31 AM

i have about 8 prs. just got a nice pair for my small work form a swap pal, you know who you are and many thanks, ineedsmall ones.
you know how it is, dh uses them for something dumb (anything but fabs), and you need a ne pair.

redkimba 02-17-2011 09:36 AM

I can't remember - I have so many. I have everything from the Gingher ones that my Grandma gave me to ones I salvaged from my step-aunt's house after she died.

I will take a picture tonight when I get home.

baglady65 02-17-2011 10:30 AM

ALOT!!!

hulahoop1 02-17-2011 10:40 AM

Not even going to try to count them all. My mom had some hoarding tendencies with clocks, post-it notes, pens, plastic containers and, yes, scissors, to name a few. When we cleaned out her house, I grabbed all the scissors I could, especially all that could be used in the sewing room....

Olivia's Grammy 02-17-2011 10:52 AM

Ok, you guys are going to accuse me of gluttnoy. I have over 200 pairs. I have every size. I have Wiss, Gingers, Singer Friskars and brands I've never heard of. A few of my scissors are antiques. I have the neatest antique pinking shears. I have scissors in every room of the house and in the car. That does not count my rotarys. Can you tell I collect scissors?

pheasantduster 02-17-2011 11:16 AM

Many scissors but my prized possession are my cutting shears from Barcelona. Spain. A gift to me from my sister's boss who traveled throughout the world due to business. He would tell my sister what the country was famous for and ask what she would like. My scissors have a higher steel content than usual and I have had them sharpened many times. The cut all kinds of fabric - no problems.

jgriinke 02-17-2011 12:26 PM

Too many to admit to in public....LOL

dinlauren 02-17-2011 01:07 PM

I easily have 6-8 pairs of sewing scissors. The ones that don't sharpen any more go to be used at school........I'm a teacher..........or get trashed.

oatw13 02-17-2011 01:11 PM

1 pair of shears, pinking shears, curved embroidery snips, rag quilt snips, spring-loaded rag quilt snips, and several pairs of little scissors for trimming threads.

Wow, more than I realized. But too many compared to some of you! lol

JUNEC 02-17-2011 01:13 PM

I have adraw full of sewing scissors, but can never find any when I go to look for them. They must be related to my rotary cutter, because it keeps getting lost as well.

dreamer2009 02-17-2011 02:05 PM

I wonder why it is that when we only have one of something we will always know where it is like a dog on a bone...however if we own lots we can never find them...
