I'm on a fixed budget, so I get 1-2 yards most of the time unless the price is really low. Most of my quilts are scrappy though. Bits of this and that.
I buy 2 yards if I like it, but much more if it really talks to me. I like to have a group of 6 yard fabric to back a future quilt.
I started out buying 1 yard at a time, but then I was so afraid to use it because I only had a yard of it. Now, I buy as much as I can. Usually 5 yards and up of it.
I started off buying 1-2 yards. But on Black Friday at JoAnn I was getting 4-6 yards. Thankfully my husband just helps
carry in the bags and helps put it away. He is a good sport. |
Depends on my bank account....

2 yds to full bolt
3 to 4 yrds. I can always find something to make with the extra fabric or find someone who wants to do a swap.
This is a great question! I learned something again from all of you!
More than I usally need. If it is something I think I will use as a focus fabric then 2-3 yards, if for an accent fabric a yard/yard and a half. If I think it would make a better backing fabric and it is cheap, lots!

I vote for this one!!! If it is great background fabric, like a white on white I get no less than 4 yards..if it is really cheap and would be good for backing then it is 8-10 yards.
