THIS idea sounds really cool !! - No pun intended, but it seems like a logical solution..

I would suggest freezing the whole quilt too. Hope it works!

It's not dumb at all. It's the first thing I tried. :-D

The freezing and the ice are the least effective. Iron heat from the other side and hot soapy water are the most effective.

Tried using sticky tape to pull it off. Not very effective.

I have gotten rid of the majority of it, but not all so I will keep trying.

I am on my way to Canadian Tire to find some Goo Gone.

It's not my quilt so I can't try some of the things I would like to (like a blow torch!) if it were my quilt.

Thanks, everyone for all your suggestions.

I was so happy to come upon this site! My mother who had been visiting from out of town didn't realize she got a wad of gum in my beautiful hand made quilt!! It was thin and very dried in the center of the quilt by the time I found it. I was desperate to find a solution to remove the gum without ruining my quilt. I read the different suggestions. I tried the shout because I had it handy. It worked wonderful without all the scrubbing fuss!! I saturated the areas and let it sit on the sites a few minutes and used a thin metal spatula. I used pulling up motions and it rolled right off!! Thank you so very much!!!!!!!!
