I was contacted by Johans of the Munising Bay Quilt Guild when I was downsizing my stash....I didn't have any extra stash left but I did have a quilt top ( of Naval Air images) I had pieced for my husband before he passed away suddenly. He loved airplanes especially the Corsair and He was a Navy SeeBee in Vietnam. (Agent Orange was determined to have caused his death)
I just couldn't bring myself to finish the quilt and offered it to Joann as they were making quilts for veterans. Not only did they finish the quilt beautifully they did present it to a Vietnam Vet on Memorial day. She sent me a clipping and cd of the ceremony honoring my husband's and other veteran's service.......
I am so eternally grateful,

that is just a wonderful story...My dad is a Nam vet Navy Seabee.....they have determined that Agent orange is the cause of his ailments. I think dad is next on my list of QOV quilts!

Beautiful story.....a wonderful way to remember your husband. I'm Mom to an Iraq war veteran (still active duty) and I appreciate the tribute to our veterans of whatever war. They deserve it!! So sorry for the loss of your husband...

Wonderful. I am from that era - my brother was in Vietnam. He also has "Agent Orange". I got tears in my eyes as I was reading the posts here. I was able to watch a special on TV on Memorial Day honoring the Vietnam Vet. It was great considering what they went through when they came home.

Lovely and fitting tribute!

What a wonderful story, and a great way to honor your husband and his service to his country!
Agent Orange did some pretty horrific damage to so many...we lost both my father and brother to it.

Thanks for sharing.
