I have a little school work to do--then I'll cut bindings. The fabrics are all picked out.

You certainly have been busy! All that done this am. I am just getting around for church! (I'll blame it on lingering jet lag, just got back from NZ on Monday).

How are your sweet minis? Hoping we can stop by this summer for some sweet muzzle kisses.

Have a great rest of the day. Those beautiful florals won't be waiting much longer

Oh! You went to see your daughter!! Is everything okay there?? Was she near the earthquake???

I would LOVE to have you come to the pastures to kiss muzzles! :-D Wait till you see how big the babies are--esp Tucker. He's a moose, like his mama, but not overweight--jsut a tank. Love that boy. Well, I love ALL of them. :D

Indeed, we did visit Melissa. In fact we were in on the south island about 4 hours from the quake, but did feel a little. Praise God, we decided at the last minute to change the order of our trip or we would have been in Christchurch at the time of the quake. We really need to send out prayers to those poor folks in Christchurch.

I bet Tucker one very handsome boy! Can't wait to see them all again. AND all the beautiful creations you are finishing up!

I am sooooo jealous! At last count I had 18 tops done.I just HATE sandwiching a quilt!!!!!! Maybe I need to follow in your footsteps. I am very proud of you!!

cmagee84 03-06-2011 10:49 AM

barnbum, sounds like we are similiar in some ways. I like to make lists and check things off with a red sharpie! I keep myself under control by finishing certain projects before allowing myself to start new ones!!! Good luck and congratulations to keeping to your goals! :)

My biggest list is the projects I want to start "one day" and of course a bargello is on that list!! :)

barnbum 03-06-2011 11:02 AM

Thanks for the replies!!

Last three bindings are made!!

cmagee84--I do love checking things off a list!! :-D
nursie--I'm so glad you're safe. Thank goodness you changed your plans. Divine intervention?!

IBQUILTIN 03-06-2011 11:16 AM

Hurray for you!!!! Keep going, you'll have them done in no time.

You have great willpower though, not so good with that here lol

These look SO much better in person.... but this is what I've been drooling over as I stitch.

What beautiful florals.

trolleystation 03-06-2011 12:31 PM

I am sending you a BIG PAT ON THE BACK. Congratulations.

polly13 03-06-2011 01:28 PM

WoooHooo!! That a way for sticking to your goal! I would wish I could say that I would have done LOTS of sewing if I could have stayed home in snowbound New York instead of being a snowbird in FL, but I probably would have not stuck to my guns like you did. I'm proud of you. Can't wait to get home and sew once again.

polly13 03-06-2011 01:31 PM

I make lists, but I am not good at sticking to them. I am going to try your red sharpie technique. I WANT to finish, but move on to a new project to see what it looks like.

Your way is the way to go.

sylvia77 03-06-2011 04:10 PM

Feels good to finish something, doesn't it? Great job!

grammysharon 03-06-2011 04:27 PM

Well, two are for a horse rescue place--a donation--they will be auctioned off.

floral wall hanging--a gift

Black and white baby quilts--gifts already delivered

other baby quilts--keeping for now-no grandkids any time soon, which is fine, but whoever that baby will be has many quilts already.

horses--two of those are for sale

doll quilt--I love it, but can make many more, so may sell it. Still deciding.

Triple Irish Chain--keeping. There is a person who wants to buy it, but I just can't part with it yet. I love the colors.

Rose Garden-for sale

three Talk-Abouts--what I'm finishing now--for sale.

QuiltswithConvicts 03-06-2011 05:01 PM

Congratulations! You have a right to be excited because your goal is nearly accomplished, and you are so close to starting your new project. I have just been through something similar, so I know what it feels like!

Great going!

Grandma Peg 03-06-2011 05:07 PM

Good for you. Think a lot of people are trying to finish UFO's plus use fabric in their stash.

G'ma Kay 03-06-2011 05:15 PM

where are the pics?

MaryAnna 03-06-2011 05:28 PM

I want to move right next door to you! I could use some inspiration and some 'bad weather' to take some time off and get projects done. I miss the snowy North! Well you still inspire me even from far away!
Blessings,
MaryAnna

Quiltin' Grammy 03-06-2011 05:36 PM

WOW - what determination. Yes, I agree, you should be proud of yourself. And those fabrics are beautiful - what a great inspiration to keep on binding. Will anxiously await pix of the project with those fantastic flowers.

barnbum 03-06-2011 05:41 PM

Everything has a binding! The last three just need to have them sewed down by hand! WooHoo!! It's been a very busy weekend. We got 6 more inches of snow today, there's more coming down, and the winds are blowing, so there's nothing I can do with horses in this weather anyway. Well, except to head to the barn several times a day to clean up and give them kisses and more hay. :-D

Now I feel ready to go back to school tomorrow!

I'll add photos of the three Talk-Abouts once they're done. The deep green green bindings look awesome. Two have that, one has red.

I'm going to have some ice cream.

cdufur 03-06-2011 06:31 PM

Yea for you! I totally understand you because I LOVE making tops, but I do not enjoy the quilting part as much. Congratulations on getting some of them completed. It feels great when they are finished.

Nettie Phillips 03-06-2011 06:32 PM

Congrats. I wish I could do that good on my tops. I am so slow
with my quilting and don't know how many I have that need to
be finished.

sunkistmi 03-06-2011 06:43 PM

Oh my goodness!!! And love those florals too. You deserve several 'high fives'. Great job.

Janquiltz 03-06-2011 07:04 PM

Whew is right! Congratulations on your fortitude! Keep on keeping on - you can do it.

Reading some of the replies - hmmmmm, a bunch of us need to follow your example. I know that I do!

Taughtby Grandma 03-06-2011 07:19 PM

WOW, inspirational. I think if I didn'tmake myself finish a project before I start another one, I'd be buried!!

bjdemir 03-06-2011 08:39 PM

Whew, I am tired already!. Good job. Go treat yourself to some chocolate!

janiesews 03-07-2011 03:35 AM

Good for you! I need to make a list and get to work on it.

CarrieAnne 03-07-2011 04:09 AM

Wow, you have been busy!
And I love the florals you chosefor the next quilt. SO PRETTY!

Scakes 03-07-2011 06:41 AM

You are an inspiration! Keep up the good work and you'll be working on the new tops before long.

barnbum 03-07-2011 06:55 AM

I'm expecting five squishy packages this week, so I'll need to see if any would bump into the Bargello. There are two I know are definite possibilities. But I have many watercolor floral log cabin blocks to make! I'll whip up some of those.... after these bindings are on. Bet I can finish those by Tuesday evening--they're small. Yay!

chairjogger 03-07-2011 07:38 AM

You have inspired me. on my own check list now ! thanks !

Rose Bagwell 03-07-2011 07:51 AM

Very good plan, yet better that you have done what you set out to do. Yea for you, woe for me, unexpected as it might be, I always start on something else for someone else and I still have about 9 unfinished projects.

Great Job.

QuiltNama 03-07-2011 07:26 PM

Karla,
You go girl...you will feel so accomplished when you get all of them done. Can't wait to see the project you have in mind for all those beautiful pieces you have picked out. Have fun.
Brenda

JeanDal 03-08-2011 07:18 AM

You have definitely been a busy bee!

barnbum 03-08-2011 08:04 AM

The three were pinned last night... got a late start due to hanging out in the barn longer and a late dinner. So close....

barnbum 03-09-2011 06:40 PM
