I like both, but I agree that the light sashing seems to make the colors pop more.

Me too, cjsews. The pattern in the light distracts from the coins, IMHO. Maybe a light with less pattern? I do prefer the dark, however.

With the dark sash those coins just glow, whereas with the light, they pale out........

I prefer the black. Gives depth to all of the batiks.

I strongly prefer the dark sashing! Black/dark colors recede, whereas light colors advance. In this case, the dark makes the colors "pop" forward. The light sashing competes with the colors for attention.
