I have an inexpensive Brother I bought about 4 years ago and I can adjust the width and length on any of the decorative stitches. I can do the same with my 40 yr. old Kenmore that uses cams.

What Pfaff do you have. I have a 7500 and would like to know how to adjust size. :?: :?:

I have two Vikings. They have some great quilt stiches.

Janome 6600P I have used a decorative stitch for quilting on a baby quilt. I used variagated thread. It was really cute. This was a simple ABC panel that needed help. Fabric was too flimsy to cut it up and border each block so I just stitched through all the sashing with the deco stitch. I adjusted it large as possible. I did get a variable on the size as I pulled, pushed or whatever the quilt through. I could stretch the stitches some that way. Also, used the deco stitch to finish the binding.
Could I quilt a queen size this way? Probably not. There is a tiny stipple deco stitch that could be used within a block. Others could be done in this manner.
Note: for me deco stitches are slow and take lots of thread.

I have a Bernina 440QE and a Pfaff 7550 I use both of them for quilting I use the serpentine stitch on the Bernina a lot but have also quilted a queen size on my Pfaff with a decotative stitch one thing about the Pfaff is that it has a skanner and I can put in my own stitches

I can adjust them on my Pfaff, but 9mm is the largest I can go. I often use decorative stitches instead of straight stitches for SID or any straight line quilting. I wouldn't try to do all over quilting with them because it would take forever.

Hi...I have just made a small applique quilt...and I have used a number of the the fancy stitches on my Janome 6600....I love playing around...I used a small snowflake stitch/ flower stitch/ blanket stitch...funny uneven satin stitch as well as doing zig zag, satin and FMQ and stitch in the ditch...I think having the option to decorate is great. Play with the stitch length and width...it can give sone really plesant stitches

Yesterday I tried to use a decorative stitch on my Viking on the border of a quilt......skipped stitches and you could not tell what pattern the stitch was. Really made a mess and I am so angry at myself for even trying to save time and not FMQ. I've had two Vikings now and have come to the conclusion neither will do the decorative stitches with batting.

I use the squiggly line all the time as I can't get the SID. I also used the little doggies as my binding stich once.
