I am going to go out and get one. Thanks!

When I was growing up we had the 'built-in' ironing board that folded into a niche in the wall. It was wooden with a canvas cover, to which my mom added a piece of an old mattress pad and then covered with a piece of an old sheet.
It was much more stable than any of the free standing ones I've had since. I now have one of the small 'over the door' ones that is also quite stable, but not really big enough. |
I recently got a board from walmart--they call it the big board and it was 49.99 and I really like it :)

Thanks, Bellaboo. I'm going to go to Walmart later today.

Hello Chamby - There are many sites that I have come across that describe making ironing boards to fit over your own ironing board so that you can iron yardage more easily. Sounds like a great idea but my ironing board fits into
my kitchen closet and I am afraid of making the board to big and heavy for me to even want to drag it out. One site is: http://www.angelfire.com/art3/elaine...shop/Iron.html Others say that there is too much give in regular ironing boards and they create actual boards to iron on which they place on kitchen islands or counter tops.A site that describes how to make one of these cheaply is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2uGVYK-VeNs Good luck - I think I'll take a look at Costco - I don't like Walmart as much because of their treatment of their employees, especially the females... -Judy |

I have a very old, large heavy ironing board that never wobbles, I think because it is just so sturdy. My son got it for $1 at a yard sale about 10 yrs ago, and I hope to never get another one!

I have a wide ironing board that I think that I bought originally at WM. Keep an eye out for replacement covers and buy one to keep on hand for when you need to change. I just found my extra and put it on and it looks so good! Made me happy! Love my big board.

I thought it was just something we have to accept. Good question and lots of good answers.
