I picked out my fabric and went to the cut counter. The cutter was a total sweetheart. She made sure to give me a little extra on every cut (about 1/2-1" ) so that I would get the full amount I paid for. There was a pricing issue that she made sure I wasn't getting over charged. Then came a batik I was buying at 50% off. She offered me the last 1/3 of the yard for an additional 50% off. Of course I took it at end-of-bolt price. One fabric I only bought an 1/8 of it. When I got home an 1/8 would have been just a touch small for the pattern I decided on for my Monthly Quilting Bee swap block. BUT because she had given me that little extra it was PERFECT!!!! How awesome is that???

Anyway just had to share :)

I just went to our Mt Vernon store and I have said in the past I would not go there again, and had even complained to management on line. Just did not feel like driving to Bellingham. Imagine my suprise to see a great assortment and the staff were just lovely, even to calling a family member to translate for an hispanic couple buying fabric. sometimes a phone call or email can make a difference.

I Have to agree. My JoAnn's is just as nice and thats why i go back, I happen to have one of the Wal Marts that has fabric (so grateful) but.....the ladies are never smiling shooo and some of the cuts....wow, and I don't hesitate to ask for my full yardage. Even at a cheaper price per yard, I'm still paying for a yard.

I really like our JoAnns but they don't give you even 1/8" over. They are real sticklers on that.

I do that as well ;-) My local Jo-Ann's has amazing staff in the fabric department, most of whom sew themselves.

I have yet to have a problem at JoAnns. I always find bargains, and the staff is awesome. Quincy, IL

Its great to hear the positive stories too. I love my joanns. All the workers are awesome! Dont think the manager is very sociable, but haven't had to talk to her really so that isnt an issue.

It would be so wonderful if companies figured out that they can't buy advertising like this at any price! Employees like the one that helped you was worth her weight in gold to JoAnn's in advertising for them. I know I pay more attention to the word-of-mouth advertising then I do to the ads that are thrown at us from every possible location!

You do not buy at the Jo-Ann fabric near us. It is a big store with a lot of young twits that don't know anything about sewing or quilting and follow their training to the letter. I often buy 1/8 more to allow for there rules.

I've had good service at my jo'ann's, I had to wait in line because there computer was down so the manager gave me 50% off everything I purchase.elise

FYI The Dublin, Ca. and San Ramon, Ca. Joann's stores are closing and a new Super Store will be opening in the spring in Dublin. Personally, I am looking forward to this.
