There is a method of using regular fusible interfacing (not fusible web) for applique . You stitch the fusable interfacing fusible side to the right side of the fabric applique. You trim the outside down to between and 1/4 and 1/8 inch . You then make a small slit in the back of the interfacing to turn it. Finger press the edges. Press the applique to the fabric. This method turns the raw edges to the inside . The fusible interfacing is hold it in place till you machine stitch in place. It can closely resemble needle turn if you use invisable thread and a blind hem stitch. Some use blanket stitch .. the idea is no raw edges ..everythng is turned under very efficently with the interfacing. Light weight interfacing works best. |
I went to Joanns' also. Spent way to much money, but missed the interfacing. Military gets 20% off total amount. Just show your ID card.

Does JoAnn's have the light fusible web on sale this weekend too? I have like 10 projects waiting for me to do after I learn applique....my abilities have to catch up to my desires....

Yes - that's what I got was the Featherweight Fusible Web...they had all the different weights on sale.
