No real sewing time today. I did manage to make a little card to send to my mom.

Well, I did end up doing the quilting on two quilts this afternoon. But I caught the edge of the backing on the one corner so that needs to be ripped out tomorrow so I can self-bind it. I'll probably start tracing my embroidery design tomorrow after church and lunch. I'm hoping I can do that while watching the Olympics Short Dance.

Sounds like we have a pretty good turn-out this month. Must be the cold and snow is inspiring us!

DebraK, love the card. How do you do that?

DebraK 02-15-2014 04:22 PM

Thanks, Raggiemom. I should have said, not a lot of sewing time. About a half hour or so. I found the free paper piecing pattern at this site, http://piecebynumber.com/daffodil.htm

Then I just mounted it in a Carol Doak Keepsake Card. There is double stick tape inside the tri-fold card. I purchased them through Amazon, but Carol has them on her site as well. Here is the one I sent to my mom for February.

Carol Doak's pattern, also on her site. The heart isn't centered in the photo, but I fixed it before I sent it out ;-)

Very pretty quilt, Frannie. Thanks for showing it. I see a fabric in there that I have. ;)

I love your beautiful cards too, DebraK. I'd be delighted to get something like that in the mail.

Well, I've kept my nose to the grindstone and made these few more blocks for my Chunky Churndash. The slowest part is going through all the scraps to find the right fabrics to go with each other. (I don't believe in random!) Once that is done, the sewing is quick.

I had to drag myself off the sewing machine because it was time to cook dinner, but I hated to stop! More sewing later...

sewbizgirl, I know the feeling. Tomorrow, I'm not going anywhere, and the family will be eating leftovers. I like your quilt blocks. you have nice scraps ;-)

Closing the studio door for today :). Sandwiched and began quilting on a baby quilt for Great Niece's baby due in June. Shoulders need a rest after 5 hours. But I will be back at it tomorrow afternoon

Happy sewing everyone

I never think to trim off my selvages before I cut strips. then I think it is too late because they are so small. Your quilt is looking really nice.
