I have never bought any precuts.

I have bought a few pre cut squares, but was not real pleased
with the quailty of the fabric.

No you are not alone. I own a couple of charm packs I bought as a gift and then found out the person no longer liked that line so they ended up in my stash as I got her something else. They are cut in too small a pieces and overal pricey. Maybe I'll change my mind?

Well, I do like pre-cuts. It saves me time cutting and wear on my cutting board and wrist. Also the cuts are very accurate. It challenges me use fabrics I wouldn't ordinarily buy. It also challenges me to design a quilt that only uses the number and color of pieces I have or to find a coordinating additional fabric. Its like working outside the box so to speak. I am very pleased with some charm blocks I just sewed up last week. Wish I could post a pic.

I tend to buy charms like FQs but I am thinking of making tote bags, not quilts, and can use leftovers for a scrappy project. I have a hard time getting the $$ out of my wallet for the other precuts. Altho, I will buy if on sale, a good sale.

Read a post yesterday that a member on here HAD purchased somejelly rolls? and the cuts weren't consistant to the 21/2" they were supposed to be......so based on this persons experiance I would not buy these types of pre-cuts. I have not bought any as of yet so that person saved me some aggrevation :roll: :roll:

I have never had a Moda pre cut not be cut accurately. Moda's reputation is on pre cuts so I doubt any off cuts would be tolerated. Hoffman Bali Cuts are not accurate. They are hand cut and it says so on the package. I haven't opened any of my Robert Kauffman's jelly rolls yet or the Timeless Treasures batik strips. The Connecting Threads pre cuts have all been accurate. Keepsakes die cuts are perfect. This is from my experience with pre cuts.

Occ use them, made lots of cute scrappy table runners with charms.

I feel the same way would rather cut them myself. Plus I like to get extra fabric in case I goof or change my mind along the way (you know how quilts start dictating the changes they need? :) ) However for those that want to save time, or have an ache or pain making it a challenge these work well. Plus I'm a pre-washer.

I've bought jelly rolls, BUT they have always been 1/2 price, so it equals what it would cost if I cut my own. Usually these are the batiks.
