As to who gets to decide these, things, the answer is US! Us and our dollars!
The "market" depends on what we buy (or don't buy) and that is how the "trends" emerge. I think we are seeing a lot more thriftiness (is that a word, lol) because of the economy. A lot of reusing whatever we can. So....in other words, BLAME THE GOVERMENT! LOL! |
I was laughing out load beacuse my HD asked me the same thing why do you cut it up and sew it back together. What was so funny is the dum look he had on his face.

I only cut the least ampunt I have to from the salvage edges. that makes my main piece bigger. and I may have a larger piece left over for "scrap bag". Then I throw the salavages away. I have plenty of left scraps for another day! or you can give them away or trade them with friends. My favorate quilt shop has a scrap bin. Have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a roomful full of fabric and now I have to go back and salvage those strips? A lot of them don't have proper seam allowance...what do you do with those? Fortunately, I have already saved some. More importantly, in my opinion, I have kept the diagrams Daisy Kingdom, etc always used on their cutouts, plus bits and pieces even tho I have never made a scrap quilt and never intended to. Now I find my self obsessing about scraps! What about excess wording from feed sacks...what's next? Who makes up this stuff?

I "collect" selvages too and also my quilting friend saves her for me. I cut the selvage off before I cut into the fabric. These are my first "selvage projects"
