I just saw on their tv program this past Sunday that they are aware of this and it is definitely a scam.
RE: subscriptions/mags....I have discontinued all of my subs.....I look at the local Walmart monthly at the offerings there, and if something really "hits" me I will buy the mag....It seems they are all the same, just different fabs and lots of ads!!!!! |

There's also Australian P&Q, which is also (understandably) pretty expensive. However, that magazine has some gorgeous projects.
I sure wish the American magazines would expand their horizons. They all seem to be the same old, same old. I'd LOVE to see them start featuring more of the styles and ideas coming out of Australia and Japan. |
Like quiltmom04 I detest the mags. sealed in plastic bags. I stopped all subscriptions to save money, and space. I now go to my local public library one afternoon a month to read my favorite ones for FREE. I can also check out issues for a week if there is something I really like. Most of the stuff in American magazines is about as interesting as oatmeal anyway. For a treat sometimes I buy the Australian issues, at Joannes where they are 10% off. I leaf through the mag. at the store and only buy if there is something in it I am really interested in.
That is way too pricey for me.... If I really want a pattern from a magazine I just head on over to Ebay and check out those. Heck, 99cents and there are hundreds of them. I have a notebook full, and I have the ones I want.
From Amazon: be careful to read the fine print..some of the magazines are auto renewel.
Love of Quilting by New Track Media Llc - Magazine Subscription - 6 issues / 12 months $20.97 ($3.49/issue) |
I would call the company-
I'm not renewing any magazine |
I just got a renewsal notice. It is $20.97 /1yr and $32.97/2 yrs. I am not going to renew since I did not find many w quilts that I wanted to make. I am not a great sibscriber to mags so I prefer to buy a seperate pattern or look for "free" on the internet.

I have been letting go of most of my subscriptions (money is tight & getting tighter) but this is ridiculous!! $77.91 for 1 year (6 issues) or $155.82 for 2 years (12 issues). I hope this is a typo because this comes out to $12.98 an issue! Is this crazy or what? Has anyone else gotten this offer or am I the only lucky one? Just curious.
This is a scam. If there is any question,go to the site, NOT the one on the email.
I got one of those and I ignored and a month later I got a did not pay notice that was DOUBLE. Thought about calling the the number to ask what the heck was going on. IT HAS TO BE A SCAM! You'lll notice that its a subscription service of some kind. Wonder if Fons and Porter knows about this? Don't have the papers any more. Wish I did so I could give F&P a call to let them know.
I stopped all my quilting magazines subscriptions. I was tired of all the ads. I find being on this board and other sites on the internet allow me to download the patterns I want and ignore the rest.

I'm sure its a scam too. I've gotten them from other publications and I knew right away to shred it. It was not real. |
I read (and sometimes buy) the foreign quilt magazines at Barnes and Noble. There are British, Australian, and French magazines that are three times as interesting as the over-crowded American market. I too see sameness in all the US mags.
I recently renewed mine. I think it was about $21, and that included a free gift subscription as well.
It is definitely a scam. Unfortunately those same scammers got my name/address and started entering subscriptions under my name WITHOUT my permission. Believe me, it was a complete disaster to try and clean up THAT mess. Hope it never happens again, to me or anybody else!
This isn't a typo,it's a scam. I have had several of these letters. One time I even called the magazine they were supposed to be selling and let them know about it. Don't fall for it!
I agree, I am letting my subscriptions to my quilting magazines discontinue. The patterns are all the same,so few truly original patterns. I have seen many magazines using old quilt patterns, give them a new name and this is supposed to be totally new. Not so much!
They must deliver the mags in person for that price!!!!
I dropped all my magazines. I don't take the time to read them and just a pain to have lying around. Some Mags have an automatic renewal, one had me paid up for 5 yrs. and kept sending me renewal notices. I dropped them like a hot potato.
Watch who you get those renewals from. They are not all legit and many are not even related to the companies. I have received several of these and will only order from the magazine directly. They always have a special deal of some kind going on.
I too quit subscribing....It just seemed like another collection that I did not need. I buy a magazine at the store when I see one I really want.
I got one too! I could not believe it! I tossed it in the can. I decided to pull it out and write a letter complaining about their prices but hubby dumped coffee grinds on it. Needless to say I am not renewing.
i got one of those renewal and its a scam fons and porter had a notice one time on their web site i would let it go and get the notice from them
it a scam..theres a notice on the site and facebook too..i believe
I let all but one of my magazine subscriptions lapse. I use to get 3 or 4 until I realized I just wasn't using them and didn't enjoy even reading them anymore. I kept Quilting Arts since it actually has new things in it.Not just strip or rectangle or squares cut from the flavor of the month fabric.
I cancelled all my quilting magazine subscriptions....if I want one I can always pick it up on the news stand or get a pattern from one of my quilting friends...I mean, how many do we need????
Run, I repeat, run to the nearest trash can and pitch this one in it. You can buy it at the news stand for a lot less.

The website says $16.97/year.
I just looked at all the quilting magazines available through Amazon. Patchwork and Quilting is $86 forr 1 year/12 issues! I've never seen that magazine and I'm betting I never will. |
Well I guess the magazines will be on reserve at the Library .. wow!! I am letting all my subscriptions go (lost my job- long story!LOL)and am going to the library to get books. SO I told DH all the magazines will have to do without my monies and I will get them from the Library.

I got a renewal offer from F&P (after letting my sub. expire) and it was much less than that. It was for 2 years, for about $34 I think ... not a bad $ but I don't think I'll renew ... too many mag, too many patterns all look the same ... |

I just checked online Fons and Porter. They have one full year for $16.97 plus $4.00 S&H. If you pay online you recieve 12 quilting guides free. The advertisement goes on to state the price of the two year subscription. You might want to check it out. :):):)
Another reason I won't renew with them again ... |
This quilting board is MY "Love of Quilting"... I get all I want or need from these wonderful fellow quilters. Why would anyone pay for this content and contact??
I'd surely pass on that subscription renewal no matter what price (unless it's FREE). |

Seems a bit much. Anyone notice this about Love of Quilting? They are always sealed in a plastic bag at the newsstand so you can't pick it up and leaf through it to see if you want to buy it. So I don't - it really steams me!

That's crazy! But some mags are 7$ a book!
There is someone sending renewal notices for sewing/quilting magazines at terrible prices. These are scams....tear up and toss!! Valid offers will come with the costs that you expect.
It is a scam. I just got mine renewed through 2014 for thirty something dollars. The notice came from the Fon's and Porter Magazine.
I got that one too. If you look at in very closely, you will see it is an offer not a renewal. Toss it, it is junk!!!!
This sounds fishy to me. Are your sure it's truly from Love of Quilting?
