Do you have or belong to latest type quilt guilds converging internationally known as Modern Quilt Guilds?
These folks that start them or belong to them rebel against the traditional way of quilting but not leaving it entirely. I'm in the process of starting one within a 100 mile radius of me. So far there is only one in Georgia which is near Atlanta. Here is a link if you do not know what I'm talking about... http://themodernquiltguild.com/about-2/ |

Our chapter just started about 3 months ago in Charlotte - we have almost 30 people at our first meeting our group is small but not tiny and lots of our members have already paid dues and joined - it is a lot of fun and we have a great group of Women

Well read the objectives and found that I don't really fit. Too many rules for me. I guess I'm a rebel...I do what I want, I do it how and when I want and I do it by myself or with others. Yep, a rebel.

Not sure what rules you say you read. Each group determines what rules they will guide themselves by but if you form or join a group there must be some basic policies in place of some sort such as administrative type things but creating is a whole other ball game so to speak. |
wow, wonder who writes the by-laws, constitutions, etc. Who opens the bank accounts, Strange really...not sure what the goal/plan is!

The new Generation Q magazine appears to be geared to the Modern Movement.
I find the concept refreshing as I have done some work using their approach. I like the freedom of design it allows. However, my seams will continue to be straight and seam allowances trimmed. Although the design concept is not necessarily new. Several books have been published the past few years which result in the finished designs but have instructions for a more structured approach. |
I belong to the Triangle Modern Quilt Guild and also a traditional guild. There are multiple people here who belong to both. I don't see rebellion in our group, but an embracing of multiple quilting styles.
