Have a great time shopping, look at some of the new features...or try a vintage. They've both got advantages.

Hope you have a backup.

I feel the same way. Sorry to hear about your loss. But even if it was only a $99 machine (which was a lot 20 yrs ago), it sounds like it was a trusty companion for many years.

Are you going to bury her in your back yard?? My sympathies.

You got that right! I feel sentimentally sad and am thinking of all the memories made together. I don't want to discard her even though she doesn't work anymore. No back up machine though... but luckily I know of a very good sewing machine dealer in our area.

You said you received some really great advice. I hope that included vintage machines that are for sale on craigslist and eBay all the time. Recently I have purchased 2 Singer 301A machines that were manufactured in the 50s and completely blown away with their straight, even stitching and speed. The average price between these two machines was about $112, complete with metal gears! :-D

Standing with hand on heart, head bowed. Sorry for the lose of your machine.

Would say sorry, but sounds like your are going to get something better. YAAAAY!:)
