Our Newcomers Club has a group called "Stitch and Bitch" and they meet once a month at someone's house. Everyone works on whatever they want, whether it is sewing, crafting, crocheting, knitting, etc. The hostess furnishes refreshments.

the name that has always made me giggle is Our Lady of the Cloth..... It was a group of gals from a Catholic parish in Indiana I think. We meet in Shipshewanam, Indiana. I know it would not fit every group but it makes me smile.
We're a new group and each of us lives in the Shenandoah Valley here in VA. We call ourselves "Stars of the Shenandoah Quilters"...and since we make service quilts we sometimes refer to ourselves as the SOS quilters.
Thinking about your geographical area is another way to name your group. |
I like Stanley Steamers but a sewing group could be Stanley Stitchers.

And sew it goes.

We call our Wednesday night group the Stitchin' Bitches. LOL!

Well there is the movie Friday Night Lights, why not "Wednesday Night Lites" or "Wednesday Night Ladies or Gals". I love the "Calico Camels" that is cute. You could be the WEDS Club "We Enjoy Designs and Sewing" or "We Encourage Designs and Sewing". Ho abut "Quilty Sisters" or "Quilty Sewers", "SQUATS" (Sew Quilts Up And Then Share) There could be any number of cute catchy names.
Just thought of another name "QPS" Quilt Piece Sisters , Sewers or seamers.
How about the Material Girls...

I like Sew What or even Sew What Wednesday.

it really depends on your group. several of us get together and call ourselves 'B___ches in Stitches' - but then, we are a group of pretty crazy (and silly) ladies.
You might want to avoid gender-specific names if you think your club might look for new members some day...men are quilters too! I think a guy would be less inclined to look into a group with "sisters" or "girls", etc. in the name. (Unless he's trying to meet women!)
Our bee is "Hangin' By A Thread". I suggested Sisters of the Sewing Machine. And I used to belong to "Seams To Bee".

We called ourselves "The Grateful Threads"
we had a group we called Stitch N Bitch, but I think they changed it to stitching some didn't like it. Personally I though it was fitting.

I also thought about Stanley Steamers...but how about Stanley Seamers?

Thank you for all your suggestions. There are some very creative people in this group! You thought of some names that just did not occur to me at all and they are great ideas.
