I find the clover glass head pins last well. I am more likely to bend the pins, or loose them, than to have them get dull.

Dittos on those Clovers - they're the best we've seen.

I use one by Dritz. I'm at work, so don't have the box with the number. They have a glass ball at the top, are very long, and quite thin. As for strong ... they will bend, but they do hold a sharp point.
http://www.joann.com/dritz-quilting-...pk/xprd274427/ The yellow ones are too thick and too long for me. I have some, just don't use them much. http://www.joann.com/dritz-quilting-...pk/xprd274623/ |
The yellow headed pins are better than the coloured sets but my problem is the heads coming off. I do try glass pins but I am slowly trying at present drops of glue . Not sure yet.
Besides heads coming off, going blunt I also have the issue where they fall out no matter how many times pushed in. |
I actually 'love' my flower head pins, so I found that you can sharpen them by sticking them into a fingernail buffer. Sally's sells the buffer. If you think about it, the original tomato with strawberry pin cushions were filled with silicon (sand or emery) and when you stuck the pin into the cushion it was sharpened. Here's a link to MS's version.

My friend loves Fons and Porter brand pins.
