What a lovely quilt! Good job! It has a lot of eye appeal.
To get it done quickly, I would SID around the blocks and then do loop-de-loops in the border. But honestly, it's so sweet that whatever you do will be fine. |
I haven't read the other posts, but on a quilt like this what I like to do is a serpentine stitch instead of SID. It is super easy if you simply do the serpentine over the seams, working from one side to the other. Because this stitch takes more thread, I like to use a finer thread -- Aurifil 50wt works really well. To add a little pizzaz, I like to use a variegated Aurifil. (Aurifil 50wt is a 2-ply thread, so it is finer than the more common 50wt 3-ply threads.)
The serpentine stitch is slower to stitch out than a straight stitch, simply because it is meandering left and right; however, it is super easy to do because it is very forgiving. Small deviations do not show up at all. For this reason, I usually do it at my machine's top speed and just feed the quilt through as fast as it will go. It's pretty mindless too. For me, it's the fastest way to finish a quilt. The other thing I like about serpentine stitch is that it gives a very soft look to the finished quilt. |
Sorry, no ideas from me, but I really, really, really like everything about your quilt top. I'm going to try that serpentine stitch with some Superior Masterpiece #50/3 I just got. Thanks Prism99.

If you could draw out a posy flower from the border fabric & incorporate that into your loops, that would be kind of fun.

Thanks everyone! I knew my QB peeps would come up with some great ideas! Will head to LQS on Monday to look for backing and thread. :)

I don't have any new suggestions but do like the idea of using the flower shapes from your border along with loops. That would be pretty quick & easy. Also like the idea of the variagated thread. Mostly, I just love the colors & fabrics in your quilt. So cheerful!

I am still in love with a medium stipple. This is how I have quilted all the quilts I have given away because I think it always the quilt to crinkle perfectly after it's first wash.

Loop-de-loop would be a nice contrast to the squares.
