No I was taught to never use anything sharp to open anything that could be cut and damaged by a cut. I will say, there are times whenI almost think about it and stop myself.

Glad you have a nice attitude about it and not letting it ruin your day :)
Just a thought, have you thought of complaining to the company on how the item was packaged? They may compensate you someway and at the very least change their packaging ways. |

Well put, LTeachergeorge! If it's a little hole, just a little appliqued something will do the trick. It's not a mistake, it's an opportunity! |
I got a bolt of Kona that had a couple of holes in the middle. we just problem solved around them. Kind of like what I just had to do. I ran out of fabric and only had a couple of smaller pieces to finish cutting out. so I took a few scraps I found in the trash and pieced enough to cut out what I needed. a few extra seams will never be noticed and it made me feel good to fix it so cheaply and easily.

Well, I haven't had that exact experience, but it certainly sounds like something I would do!
I have made pieced backings on a couple of quilts and really like the "look" of it. Good luck! |
Done it! Not on fabric but other things.

You're looking at it in the best way possible. It's like getting lost I never say I got lost just that I had an adventure!! LOL
|
I haven't done that particular thing, but have done others just as bad. Life goes on.
|
I am so sorry.
I have not had a package in a while, but when I do get something I will be extra careful. GOD bless. |
Nope - Never! Yeah, right . . .

Yes, I once cut a panel right in half. There was no saving it. Really shredded the edges when I did it. So I "fussy cut" some of the images out of the panel and used those, along with some other fussy cut pieces from my stash. I honestly have to say I think it turned out better than just having a panel on the front! More "handmade" than just thrown together with a panel. So in the end, I was kind of glad I did it, even though it meant more work. As my Mother used to say: "When life hands you lemons, made lemonade!"

I had this happen to me one time. I learned the hard way, so now I am extra careful when opening the packages.

Another wonderful thing about the QB, we all learn from each others mistakes. Yours today, mine tomorrow, and tomorrow and you get the idea :)

Yes, so true!
