Arlie Anderson, 92, of Brookston passed away Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008, at Paris Regional Medical Center. Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home conducts graveside services at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, at Restland Cemetery in Roxton with Edgar Clements officiating. The family receives friends at the funeral home Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. She was born April 15, 1916, in Roxton, a daughter of Luke and Ela Hawkins Coplin the eldest of six children. She married Thomas "Chill" Anderson Dec. 22, 1940, in Roxton. She was a homemaker and a member of the Methodist church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; a son-in-law, David Ferris; brothers, Jack and Jerry Coplin and a sister, Evelyn Bangs. I don't have any information on your quilt, I was given twelve squares just like yours and was told it was a group of quilters making quilts for donations. they each have their names in the center like yours. There are no dates on any of mine. I hope to one day assemble them into a quilt. Not enough for a big quilt. I would guess a lap quilt. My daughter in law is twenty one and her great grandmother was one of the quilters. No help I know. But interesting. I would post pictures but I don't know how to do it. Good luck, I will be watching your post.

I stumbled across this post and also found some info. Mrs. W H Siddle is Rosa Coplin Siddle. Some of these people are buried in the cemeteries in Paris. You could write to the library there. I also used the whitepages.com and there were Coplins living there still. What a wonderful quilt.
If you go to www.lamarcountytx.org they have cemetery listings. Along with quilting I am a family researcher. You have done a wonderful job on this! It's kind of a sickness, isn't it! |
Evie Coplin is listed also in cemetery records as being born May 1, 1871.
