What a wonderful quilt! Leave it to a genealogist to find out all there is out there! I used to be active with the DAR and just LOVE genealogists! You might check with a DAR chapter in Paris. They have lots of members who have done their homework and know who their ancestors are. They might have a member related to some of these people.

I stumbled on this thread doing research for my family. It's has been a great read. We have a lot of quilts in our family that have been passed down for generations.

Mrs L McNeal
This is my Great Grandmother. She lost her husband within a few years of this quilt being made - but lived for another 40+ years - with my grandparents (Otis and Pauline).

Frances McNeal
This was my Great Aunt. I only met her a few times as she lived in California. She would have been about 16.

Mrs Otis Williamson (Pauline)
This was my Grandmother. As my mom and I are both only children - there are not a lot of ancestors on this side of the family. She was likely a newleywed when this was made - or just engaged - as their wedding date was in 1932. She was about 18 when this was made.

I'll show the pictures to my Mom. She will enjoy them - as she still lives in the Paris area - and will know a lot of the names.

Thanks
Grover

I don't know if anyone has given you this information (I only got to the bottom of page 1), but I suggest you try this website. There are links to every county in Texas. Paris is the county seat of Lamar County. Scroll down to Lamar County and there is a contact name. Click it and you will get her email address. Good luck in your search.

What a wonderful quilt to have. Some family member of one of the quilters would be so happy to know it is loved.

This is my Aunt as well. I remembered her name as "Lois" - so I didn't catch it. So - my GGrandmother (Rosa) and 4 of her daughters (Frances, Loyce, Pauline) are on this quilt.

This is the most interesting thread posted here in a while. I am really enjoying this. Earlier someone was wondering what block the quilt was made of. Someone else said they thought it was called The Album block which is right. It is also known as Chimney Sweep Pattern, a Pioneer Friendship quilt pattern too. Here is a link to the page: http://www.patternsfromhistory.com/p...ey_pattern.htm

Good luck with your search BrendaY and all the other Board members that are trying to research this beautiful piece of work.

BrendaY, whatever happened to the quilt? My 99 year old mother in law is about the same age as these girls. I know Id be pleased to get it if her name was on it. Aurora

I checked out the Lamar County records but did not find anything there. Achany, you were spot on by going to the ancestry subscription. You're a real sleuth!
