Which pattern would you choose for this fabrics
1 Attachment(s)
Morning :)
I got this fabrics as a christmas gift. They all are the same style but different colours. I want to have them all in one quilt, but am uncertain with a pattern. So what would you choose? My last quilt took me several months because of a lot of appliques and handquilting. Now I would choose something simple and a pattern where i can stitch in the ditch with sewing machine. Oh, and I don't want to make a bargello (too mans tiny pieces). I am thankful for every idea. |
Fat Quarter Shop just blogged about two of their patterns which I think these would look great in: http://www.fatquartershop.blogspot.c...ttle-time.html
They are designed for a fat quarter bundle but I think they'd work well with your fabrics. If you go with just these fabrics, you'll have a nice modern looking quilt. Is that something you want or are you looking for more traditional? |
I would find a good rich true black and made either a Jacobs Ladder or a Jewel Box quilt. These 2 are almost the same pattern but look fantastic with rich deep colors for the pop factor!! I would use the dark fabric, 5th from the left side in the photo, for the borders. It would be great if you could find the same fabric pattern in a few more colors, maybe yellows, greens, blues, and a cream tone....ask the person who gave it you if they would share where they bought it. I've done many quilts with this pattern and make them totally ''scrappy'' with the black to give balance....you will like it!!

You can do an Irish chain with the different colors and a white background.

Yes, an Irish Chain would also be good!! I love to use fabrics like you have been given.....same pattern but different colors in a controlled scrappy quilt. You ''know'' all the fabrics will play well with each other....same color values....you just need to add the one solid...black or white....I prefer black for that added WOW factor. I would still check with the gift giver, to see if you could add a few more colors. It might be you would find the same color values but with a different pattern....I've done that many times and the color values stay the same but they eye will catch that slight difference in the fabric patterns. It will be a stunning quilt........ |

I know you said no bargello but quiltville has a scrappy bargello that is really easy.
