Oh, I love your black and white jacket. So attractive!

I know many ladies have made them and yet I never see anyone wear them. I have bought a few sweatshirts to make into jackets, but have since changed my mind. I am going to just reconstruct the sweatshirts into V-necks or plain jackets with a bit of trim on the cuffs and bottom, maybe a collar.

I think the key to success with these is to be very careful where horizontal stripes hit or the center of a block ends up. I have judged clothing for fairs and it is always sad when a lot of work has gone in to something and it unfortunately highlights places that shouldn't be highlighted.

I'm rethinking this as well. The idea is appealing but I don't want to feel like I'm wearing a quilt. Perhaps if they were thin strips pieced vertical, a scoop neckline and a little more fitted-back and front darts maybe? But that would be more a fitted jacket than quilted sweatshirt.

The ones you've posted are very pretty and obviously took a lot of time.

It's a shame to not wear them but if you are that unhappy with the jackets, because the fabrics are beautiful, why not make them into something else? Small tote, cosmetic bag, eyeglass case, doll quilt, slippers ...

I've made 3 and I did not do an all over "quilt' look to them, I make a Dresden plate and did three, here and there, on the sweatshirt, a flying geese - around the edges - and a card trick but just on the shoulders. I didn't want to look like a walking quilt either!! lol many compliments also.

Londa Rohlfing has a good site. She has "talking patterns" & I see she has some youtube videos.

The jackets on site are really beautiful. By the time my post goes through, there can be several messages ahead of me that didn't come in until after I've posted. I guess Londa's are more of a fitted jacket, but they are worth looking at.

I think its all in the making . I shouldn't have covered mine. And since I get hot really easy I sure shouldn't have worn it to the Hampton Roads show. Its warm enough in there But for someone who doesn't think 65 is perfect temp and who sweats bullet in anything over 73 LOL I think it would be fine.
