I would definitely improvise with a different block. Good Luck

I would sew together to make the correct size. I have done this with mistakes and shortage of fabric to correct. Once quilted you will not notice,

I think you should go with what you feel most comfortable with - everyone has a different level of "perfection" or what is "good enough". What would bother you might not bother me and what would bother me might be ok with you. Good luck.

I would piece them together. I have done it many times and you really have to look to see it. I think it would be more obvious changing color even if it was close.

I choose B

I would use a co-ordinating fabric for those two extras and, in fabric pen, write a mom to son special note in one and the occasion/name of quilt/date on the other. Personalize it just for him. It'll look like you planned it that way!

I also have done this and once quilted you will never notice.

What about a special dinosaur applique for those two???

If you have enough of the original fabric to add the necessary length to each of the short rectangles I would just match the design up as much as you can when doing so and not worry about it. Nobody but you is going to notice that extra seam. I do it frequently with no problems.

I would piece it to make the correct size. I have an old quilt from my husband's grandma. She pieced tiny squares to get a full square.
