i wash,do not dry,spray with pam then wrap with saran wrap. nuke it then takes it out and drop it in an oven mit till denner is ready, they are fluffy and moist.

All this discussion about potato bags catching fire has convinced me. I will wash, leave very wet, place into a gallon ziploc bag and nuke. They are moist and good. I do seal the bag all the way, and it usually pops open. The post here to leave an opening of about one inch makes sense.

In themselves grease spots probably won't make the bags more likely to catch fire ( oils & grease don't absorb microwaves well). But, if ignition starts, the grease can act as a fuel and increase the fire.

Hi,
I use cotton fabric (usually the one with potatoes as its cute for the project) and the warm tater batting, and cotton thread. No poly thread.... I use my potato bag all the time and I've not had any fires...my friend had hers start on fire...why? She used poly thread. I have also made them with regular warm and natural batting with no issues. Oh, I just spent yesterday making two pototo bags. Now I made sure I used 100% cotton material, muslin for the inside and 100% cotton batting. My only issue is, did I use 100% cotton thread? Didn't think of thread. I embrodieried on the front, here again, not sure, will have to go look, but 100% cotton thread, I don't think so. Oh gee, I washed it and everything. I may have to start all over!
