I think she should of at least called. If she wasn't able to call then she should of had someone else call you. If I am even 10 min. late on doing sommething, I call. Just being respectful.

I think she should have called to let you know it wouldn't be done on time.

Certainly she should have called you.
But I do know that when you tell people you will take in quilting, you can very quickly become snowed under. Maybe she cannot handle her load.
In any case, you could try calling her one more time and tell her you need the quilt by day after tomorrow, and if she cannot do it by then go get your quilt and get someone else to do it real quick if you can find someone, or at least SID it for yourself so you can give the quilt as you intended.

I wish I lived closer because I would do it for you.

Life does happen, but that doesn't excuse a lack of professionalism. If you can't make your deadline, you should have a legitimate reason why, and call to explain that to your customer.

Also if the agreed deadline can't be met, some sort of compensation should be given to the customer.

you have every right to be upset, she should have been in touch with updates.
i have been behind alot lately. i at least try to keep everyone up to date and let them know exactly where their quilts are in the scheme of things. and when there is a deadline looming i will move it ahead of other projects. i have had family 'stuff' interfering with business but i try very hard to not leave anyone wondering or worrying. if i tell you it will be done at a specific date it is...or you know a week or more ahead of time of any delay, the reason and the solution.
