Another way would be to sew the strip to the side, and then sew to the other side (making a tube) and then cut in half wherever you want-you can have the added strip in the center or make it off center.
Actually after thinking on it, I don't think either way is any easier. disregard. lol |
Thank you all for the wonderful ideas.I am sure I can get it fixed somehow. It is a Christmas gift for someone don't know who yet LOL.
And I do think I have enough scraps to fix it . Purple fiend The throw is around 50 in. wide. So it's not way off. I will check out the other sites posted here also.I wish I had a way to post photos. But as of now I haven't any way. Thanks again to all of you  |

It's not a tutorial there-but usually when she posts a picture of a quilt she'll also show her backing. Here is a link where she shows some of her backs.

Berta,
I would cut the fabric in 1/2 lengthwise and add a strip in the center. Your backing needs to be 2-4" wider than the top, same for the batting. |

I found enough matching fabric that I will be able to fix it.Thanks to all you grrrreat ladies info on here  I am going to learn how to quilt yet!!!! |
If you are piecing your backing just remember to cut off the salvage edges. It will be harder to quilt and they don't shrink like the rest of your quilt will.
