a couple of words of advice here: make sure you have clippers (spring loaded) to save your hands! and remember to take it to the laundromat to wash and dry the first time cuz you don't want to mess up YOUR washing machine with all the little threads!

I have always sewn my "x" in before sewing the blocks together.

I have made rag quilts with cotton fabric top and bottom, but always use a batting between. Works just fine. I do the x before sewing together. They are fun and fast!! I always take mine to the laundro mat to wash and dry.

Does it have to be flannel? Can I use regular 100% quilting cottons?? Thanks Teresa
I have always made the smaller blocks and I don't even bother sewing the x in them. They hold up fine. |
No one says it has to be an "X" ... you can do any quilting design you want: hearts, triangles, whatever.
I agree with ragqueen03 take it to the laundromat. I put mine in the dryer without any heat til the last time. Fiskars rag snips are better than great. You can easily cut through all layers quickly with them. Have fun, ali |
Thank You Hperttula123 and eann, I had been told of this time of quilt years ago and was hoping I had remembered correctly. All of you on this QB are such great helpers. Wish I had my fabric stash here with me....but it is waiting on be back home in Virginia. Teresa
