I made this quilt. It was from a photo I saw several years ago, and was called Grannies Cracker Crumbs. In fact, I made to of them. I sewed the print "brick" to the white square, as your have yours, then sewed in rows, maybe 6 to 8 rows, then another 6 to 8 rows. when I had several of those sections finished, I started sewing the sections together. 12 to 16 rows each and so on until the entire top was the size I wanted. Like someone else mentioned, what ever works for you. This was just my way. I didn't have a pattern to follow. Mine were extra large queen. I really like the pattern, and your colors are very nice.

It's your quilt, so you can do what you want to do.

I think you made a wise decision to sew blocks. Long strips are hard to keep straight and not puckering. I love the '30s fabrics. I have a bunch of them and hope to make Aunt Grace's Flower Garden. You quilt is going to be beautiful. Keep us all informed and hope to see the finished quilt!!

Janine, your quilt looks like it's coming along nicely and love your color arrangement. Have fun.

ManiacQ, I love the soft vintage fabric in your scrappy quilt too.

Is the pattern itself intended to be a scrappy quilt as stated in the copy of the free pattern Janine posted? It looks like it might be more of a controlled scrappy.

I saved that pattern to make some day. It's here in a binder somewhere....gotta go look for it. Thanks for the reminder!!

I'm with you about sewing in chunks, I don't like those long pieces either.

You're doing a nice job so far. Your idea of sewing is sections is spot on.

This is somewhat like Jennie's, but she has spaces between her "zippers". That makes them look more like zippers. She just put a strip between each row.
