I've made many for gifts and have never had any problem. I, also, was afraid it would be flat so used a poly batting of 4-6 oz. I also "spot stitch" sometimes so that the batting stays in place when washed.

It's a pocket/pouch sewn onto the back of your quilt so you can fold the quilt up inside to make a pillow.

I wish I would have used flannel for the second side. I found perfect fabric for my DGS who was into star wars at the time and used a matching star fabric for the back, but he said it feels cold to him.

I have made a few. Here is one. I change things up but always do some quilting b/c of the batting.

Great site....thank you! Love the way they matched the print to make the "pillow" disappear.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JSAgqWkZHcg&NR=1 - this is a great idea. This woman make the qillows for the childrens hostipal. I am really liking how these fold up into a pillow. Great for the car too...and I like how one woman uses the pocket to keep her feet warm.

I've made several and I used poly batting and tied it so the pillows were plump.
