I made four of the for my grands for Christmas 2009. I made them out of flannel with no batting - they turned out okay ... the kids loved them and still use them ;)

I've sort of made one and it was a disaster. It was one of my first projects. NOW I KNOW that my pieces were off grain and it skewed during the pillow turn. If I hadn't used a striped fabric, I would have finished but the stripes made the misfit real obvious.

Have only made one and it was a large one..bigggggg!

gave it to a niece for her high school graduation and she told me that she kept it with her throughout college and just loved it.

Makes it all worthwhile

I've made several. My pattern calls for just sewing down 2 vertical lines but I've always gone ahead & quilted them. On the 1st one I did I appliqued a high heel on the pillow pocket as it was for a graduate going off to college. My grandkids love them. I just always keep in mind that they're for lots of use & not for show

How "plump" the pillow is would depend on the size of the "quilt" part and the thickness of your batting. Mine plumps up real good. My daughter still uses it and it is about 12 years old. It had a folden star on the pillow part and was burgundy and gold in color.

I've made several. They do look like pillows when folded correctly.

I have made quite a few and there is nothing I would change. Are you having a particular problem? Muriel

Wonnie 05-01-2011 04:29 AM

Not a particular problem, Muriel...it was just that I had seen various pictures of them and realized they weren't all created equal (some were real thin, some were big, some were little) so, before I tried one, wanted to see how others did theirs since fabric is so expensive to come by these days. Was, also, thinking in terms of Christmas as I like to give gifts that are practical and can be used throughout the year not just at Christmas.
