I recently bought 3 kits with coordinating backs from Connecting Threads...during the 40% off sale in December. Their normal price is $5.96 a yard, but in this sale, it was only $3.58 a yard and included kits too. My small quilting group is making a raffle quilt to raise money for breast cancer research, so we used one of my kits for that. The fabric quality is great, and it is now at the Long arm quilters.

I like to look at the pictures and dream that maybe I can quilt like that.

I like buying kits as I live a long way from quilt shop...I order online and usually when they are on sale...I don't mind if mine looks like someone else's especially if I love the colour and the design.

I am doing a block of the month from a LQS. OH my...there is so little fabric in the kit for the month. Just one wrong cut and you would be short of fabric. My friend and I are on the hunt for some of the fabrics in the quilt to have just in case we need it. I don't normally buy kits as so often they short you on fabric.

I want to make Sun Bonnet Sue but am not sure about the applique part. Easy directions please

I love to get a kit and have all the coordinating fabrics together. That is the one thing I lack confidence in, color choice. I also buy yardage all the time too.

Now that is a dilema. The kits make beautiful quilts. But the kit quilts aren't uniquely mine. And when all is said and done what I want is a finished product that is uniquely mine. Anything less than that and I'm not going to be happy with it.

I buy the kits if I like their selection of fabrics. I only have a small LQS so they don't carry alot of the fabric I see in the quilt kits. It also takes all the guess work out of fabric selection which is what I have a problem with.

I make up my own kits - pattern, fabrics and then zip lock them so I have it all together. I am almost done organizing the sewing room and I would hate to guess how many of those zip lock bags I have. Diffidently time to get busy and stop buying...
