Wouldn't "Quilted to Death" make a great title for a mystery novel?:D It is still beautiful and I agree with not getting the quilting out. I've tried that before and even with washing and ironing I could still see some old needle marks. I use the clear vinyl and a dry erase marker to preview my quilting designs now. What I think will look great quilted on a top sometimes does not suit it after I preview it. It has saved me some quilting mistakes.

I think you are being too harsh on yourself. Step away from it a little, remove the markings and perhaps you can appreciate what you have done to it more.

I can see why you love the dragonfly applique, it's lovely. I agree with the quilters who say it will look better when the markings are removed. I think the overlaps in the quilting contribute to your unhappiness with the result; the cross-over loops of the granite or garnet stitch you used make the work flatter and less sculptural. A meander that doesn't cross itself may give you the look you wanted. I hope you DO like it with the marks removed...the stained glass look is so vibrant.

Agree with everyone. Wash that beautiful quilt to get rid of the marks and then put away for at least 24 hrs. I think you will love it again when you do!!

Sprayed the quilt a little and some of the markings disappeared. Here's what it looks like a little damp. The markings have changed to a "dye" effect (I kind of like it, too bad it goes when it's washed lol)
