I usually do a small project to get me going. Almost instant gratification.

After intense work, a break away from quilting is not a bad thing. Do something you do not normally do. Read a book. Have lunch with a friend. Visit an art gallery, mueseum, botantical garden what ever is in your area. Do not think about quilting, go for a drive see new scenery. Then Reorganize sewing room. You will get your desire and motivation back more then ever.

(1) A smaller, easier project
(2) something totally different/new technique/color, etc. But my quilts tend to span a whole spectrum! For example, I finished a Hunters Star and an appliqued flower pot and am now working on (1) teddy bear appliqued/patchwork baby girl quilt (2) a scrappy String x (3) a very easy rectangle in a rectangle (4) an original b&w non-standard patchwork with applique on it (5) a handpieced grandmother's flower garden. Usually when I get tired on one, there is another that appeals to me. However I do really need to finish the baby one in the next week or so and 3 of the others by mid-april! |
