My DH cut plexiglass to fit the bottoms of my purses and totes, and I put them in a "pillowcase" (fold the ends in). Easy and take out and throw whole purse in washer (I hang to dry). He also cut plexieglass pieces for my Nook and Kindle that I put in a pocket on the left side of the cover to help protect the glass. Very lightweight.

I have sometimes used two layers of plastic canvas slipped into a pocket of fabric, kind of like a small pillow case. When it comes time to wash it, just pull out the plastic and everything else is washable.

When you use soft & stable, do you sew it with the outside of the bag or the lining.
