Thank you for this info. The more we save on quilting tools, the more we can spend on fabric.

Now, measure them at home with a tape measure and make sure they are accurate! Reason..saw blades can move, and depending on where he cut, it could be off by a 1/8th or more!

Yes, I had some cut and did not measure them when I got home. Started a quilt using them and my sizes were all off. Couldn't figure out why until I measured the square I had cut. So check in the store before you leave.

Better to measure before you pay ... if not right, have them do it again.

Just wondering, wouldn't you want an extra 1/2" for seams, like 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch""

Excellent idea. Thanks so much for sharing that information with us.

Thanks for the information! I'm a beginning quilter and had not heard of doing this. I think I'll check and see if they can do 6 1/2" and 2 1/2" for me. I've already purchased the 8 1/2. Happy Easter.

A couple of years ago I have two plastic pieces cut; I think one was 16 l/2 and I'm not sure about the other. I used them for squaring up blocks. Worked great. I think I got them from Lowes.

My across the street neighbor and I went together over a year ago and had squares that each needed cut from a large sheet, we each got about a half dozen squares, and I came home with the scraps. We got all this for less than I had paid for one 6 1/2 x 6 1/2 inch square on sale at Hobby Lobby. All were cut exactly to the dimensions we requested.

Great question about 5 x 5 measurement. I already had the 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 with the Fons and Porter pack that had several other pieces (40% off at Jo Ann's) however, I wanted an exact 5 x 5 to Fussy Cut to use with some charm packs and make the disappearing 9 patches for quilts that required charm packs. I really love that pattern because it changes whenever you move the squares around. Couldn't find and 5 x 5 or 4 x 4. Hope that explains it for you.
