I have. I've made 3 rag quilts using recycled jeans and other denim items. They're very popular with my family.

I've been saving my old jeans but, as yet, haven't made anything with them. It's on my list.

Thanks for sharing.....I have some saved but have not been motivated!

My mom made all six of us (girls) and each of the grandkids a quilt made of old jeans that she couldn't fix for the umpteenth time. Some, like mine are backed in heavy flannel, others like the one for my son is backed with fleece (to take to his son's hockey games). They go everywhere, from the beach to football games, wrapped around antiques or weird things that would break a window. They are so totally indestructible, and certainly keep the cold and snow out for those late season Michigan high school football games.

Love your jack Grammy! I save old jeans for quilts. I have made several over the years. I have found that a simple pattern like the ragged quilt shown is an easier way to go than a more complicated pattern. I like to use the pockets and any other unique parts in my quilts. I have even sewed in one of my dads old handkerchiefs in a pocket. If there is a hole in the jeans I usually use that part and put a patch under it. It makes a fun quilt.

I have used old denim jeans to make all of my children quilts. My son even laid out his own and I sewed it. Used flannel for backing and no need for batting then.

I did a quilt for my grandson and used denim from cut off jeans from his dad and uncle. Why did I save them for all of those years? Who knows...guess I knew I would need them later...never guessed I would decide I had to start quilting with abandon. I did squares of denim and squares of plaid and lined it with flannel...he loved it!

I too have lots of denim from jeans that don't fit any more. Love all the ideas.
