Would love to hear from anyone using either of these mats. I am going to use it for quilting.

Get the olfa, especially if you go larger. With the 50% off, the price difference is not that much. I purchased a Fiskars and took it back for the Olfa because when I rotated the board it popped out of the base. I do have a smaller fiskar that I use with no issues, it seems to be with the larger one. So, imho, save yourself the trip back to joanns and get the Olfa.

I have the Olfa 17X17 and love it! I use it for squaring up blocks and I went with the larger size so my 12 1/2" square ruler would fit.

Are you asking about a rotating mat (like on a lazy susan) or a rotary cutting mat (flat)? The rotating mat is really good for cutting small pieces without having to lift the fabric. Small works for that. The flat ones should be larger. Now for the brand. I'd go with the Fiskars because the Olfa ones smell bad and you can't get rid of it.

I bought a 12x12 but the top & bottom wouldn't stay together so I took it back. I finally decided I could live without one.

I have both sizes of Olfa and find myself using the 12" more for some reason. The large one takes up room and even more to rotate it.

I have the 12" x 12" one but I wish I would of gotten a larger one. So, go with the larger one.

Well I dove in and bought the olfa 18x24 rotating mat (#22.49), I need (want) so many other things to get started that this size will have to do for me.

I would suggest the bigger the better depending on what you are doing with it. If you get a small one you have to fold the fabric in 4's or smaller to make it fit the board.

I bought the olfa 18 x 24, it was the best I could afford. To many other purches to be made to get this new craving on the way.
