Have never spray basted but know many do

I spray baste and sometimes even use Elmer's spray glue. Never had a problem getting with sticky. I'm not one to baste and I don't get along with pins.
What is the sandwich method your all talking about.

I have spray basted. It work good. Helpful hint keep window open. fumes can get over powering.
I also pin baste quilts.

I have done it both ways and really prefer spray basting. It is quicker, holds better and the sandwich is lighter. I prefer 505 Spray basting since it has less odor than others. I bought it by the case on line and paid about $150 with free shipping for 12 larger cans. Connecting thread has it in the smaller cans if you want to try it first. Have not been able to find this product locally.

I have never used the sticky batting but use spray basting all the times for smaller items like wall hangings and table runners. Have not used it for a large quilt yet.

I have used 'spray basting' and find it very good. Give it a try on a small quilt first.

I always spray baste,have never had a problem with it not washing out -always follow directions on the can and put an old sheet or shower curtain under the quilt you are spraying. With a large quilt ,I add a few safety pins to keep it all lined up.

Spray basing is the best for me. Even the smaller quilts work well.

I use this wall method to spray my quilts, too. First, you tape newspaper to the walls around where you will be spraying (I use my design wall)- AND on the floor - to catch the overspray. Then you pin the backing to the wall wrong side out. Spray the entire backing. Pat and smooth the batting on. Spray the entire batting. Pat and smooth on the quilt top. Remove the quilt.

Now you can look at the back and check for puckers. If there are puckers, take the quilt to your cutting table and lift the bad areas and smooth them out. You can redo sprayed areas over and over until you get the entire sandwich exactly the way you want it. Chances are, if you carefull smoothed it out on the wall, you will have very little need to re-smooth after you take it off the wall.
