Does anyone have a stitch in the ditch foot? I'd like some opinions before I purchase one. Mail order returns are not my favorite thing to do. It looks like a good idea, but then so do a lot of unnecessary gadgets. Thank you.

I tried it for SID and went back to my open toe applique foot or walking foot...
But I do use it for other techniques and love it :D:D:D |
Wouldn't a zipper foot do the same thing? I have used one for SITD.

Do you mean the 1/4" foot with the guide bar? I just bought one during a class on Saturday because I couldn't, for the life of me, sew that darn 1/4"!! The pattern called for too much precision so I couldn't get away with my usual "fudge it" seam. The new foot really helped.

Didn't do much for me. I found it doesn't really guide the quilt (unlike a 1/4'' foot guides the fabric), I think the metal guide is simply meant as a help for eyeballing it...
I'm finding a walking foot much more useful for SID (and I was super skeptical about that one, would never have bought one but it came with my new machine!). |
I love my SID foot. I also have a Pfaff,so I have a builtin walking foot that I use with it. Works great.

it is personal unless you try it you wont know

I don't have a walking foot for my Singer. I do have the 1/4" foot which was great for stitching that amount inside the stitching line. I could do the SITD on the Elna with her walking foot and do the FMQ on the Singer. The Elna's presser foot doesn't lend itself to SITD without a walking foot, so I can't use the SITD foot on her. I can get one for her locally, but have to order for the 301 because it's a slant needle machine.
